Donorschoose.org Grant Update

I am excited to update you on the status of our Donorschoose grant. I uploaded a grant request in March for a digital camera to use in our classroom to help document our lessons as well as two iPod touches so that the students can learn about QR codes and experiment with them in their workstations.

As of last Friday we have already raised $432! We only have $224 left to go. Please feel free to visit the link below for more information on what we are requesting and how you or anyone that would like to support public education can donate!

The deadline for our grant to be funded is July 21st!

Thank you to all who have graciously donated all ready!!

Sports Day Pictures

This week Ms. Myrie is teaching the class full time so I have been trying to keep myself busy outside of the classroom. Here are a few pictures from last week. We had a GREAT time at Sports Day!!

Eggs and Bunnies :)

We had a fun week of eggs and bunnies as we learned about Easter traditions and prepared for our Easter party! Here are a few pictures from the week!

Some of our EGG-cellent work!

We had a blast during different activities the morning of our party!

First we had a "Bunny & Chick Race". A sight word was called out and we had to be the first to get our animal to hop to it!

Next we raced to solve addition problems that were written on Easter eggs! The first person to solve all three of their problems and put the eggs together won!

We also worked on spelling and sight words by balancing an egg on a spoon! When a word was called out we had to spell it out loud and take one step for each letter. The first person to the finish line won!

Finally we worked our bodies and our brains by skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's. Ms. Myrie called out a way  to count and a number to count to. Each time we jumped the rope we said a number!

After all our fun games we prepared for our egg hunt!!

After we counted our eggs and put our baskets away we worked on our REAL eggs!

First we dyed the eggs.

Second we peeled the eggs.

Third we cut the eggs.

Last we eat the yummy egg salad! (We were too busy (and messy) to take pictures while we were mixing!)

After we finished watching the movie "Hop" and eating we went outside for a special surprise!

I hope you and your little ones enjoyed your long weekend- I know we did at the Richardson house!

The Zoo!

We had a blast this week learning about things that are living and non-living. There is no better way to learn this unit than with a trip to the zoo! We enjoyed our trip and our zoo themed activities all week! Enjoy the pictures!
We found as many living things as we could!

We sorted animals by whether they were a pet or lived at the zoo.

We worked on our cutting skills....

and then put the animals in order from the smallest to the largest.

Kindergarten students created their own Zoo books based of our favorite book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See".

Hanging out at the zoo!

We loved feeding the giraffes!

Petting zoo

Boy were we tired!
