The First Week of School

We have officially finished the first week of school! I loved having the chance to meet my wonderful 22 students and their families!

During the first week of school the students learned our Reece Academy Rules:
Hands are still.
Feet are quiet.
Lips are closed.
Eyes are watching.
Ears are listening.

By the end of the week our class looked like superstars in the hallway!

In the classroom the students participated in workstations- one of their favorite activities. They rotated between many activities and practiced the rules of workstations-
We whispher,
stay in our station,
 work with our partners,
and when it's time we clean up!

Elijah was a pro at sorting the buttons by colors!

In the Writing Center, Joanita and Zariyah practiced writing letters to each other!

On Thursday the students participated in their first group race! Each group's names were placed on a sentence strip, cut into pieces and then mixed up! The first group to correctly assemble all members names won a prize. All groups did a wonderful job!

All week the students were reminded to make "good choices" so that they would be able to participate in our "Friday Funday". On Friday students are rewarded for working hard all week by particiapting in several crafts and games. At the end of Friday Funday all students who recieve an E or S in conduct participate in a Movie and Popcorn party.

This Friday the students had our first "Friday Funday!" The students learned how to properly use water color "paints"and created "Rainbow Names" by tearing construction paper into tiny pieces and gluing it on their name for fine motor practice. The students also learned how to play "Doggie, Doggie, Where's your bone."

Relaxing and enjoying their reward for GREAT behavior!

I am excited to see everyone's happy faces bright and early on Tuesday and to hear what you did on your long weekend!
